Egypt to Boost Domestic Spare Parts Production with Additive Manufacturing

June 4, 2025

Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) hosted a workshop on June 2nd, 2025, to advance the localization of industrial spare parts manufacturing using 3D printing technology. The event, organized in partnership with UAE-based tech firm Immensa, took place at the Digital Manufacturing Center. Officials from various ministries attended, including housing, transport, electricity, petroleum, and public enterprises.

Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif, head of AOI, emphasized aligning national manufacturing capabilities with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development. The workshop focused on integrating digital machinery with additive manufacturing to address industrial needs. Participants toured the center to observe its production capacity for water pumps and other industrial components.

Public Enterprises Minister Mohamed Shimi stated that adopting advanced manufacturing is essential for reducing imports and increasing competitiveness. This initiative comes as Egypt seeks to strengthen its domestic manufacturing capabilities across multiple industrial sectors.

Deputy Housing Minister Sayed Ismail noted that supporting local production, particularly of electromechanical parts for water and sanitation projects, aligns with Egypt’s strategy to expand local markets. The effort also aims to boost exports to African and Gulf markets, potentially strengthening Egypt’s regional trade position.

The collaboration between AOI and Immensa represents Egypt’s ongoing efforts to incorporate digital manufacturing technologies into its industrial strategy. By focusing on 3D printing for spare parts, Egypt is working to reduce dependency on imported components while developing domestic technical capabilities.
